- Exceptionally rare, striking cassone most likely made to commemorate a marriage which would have been one of the most important pieces of furniture in the home at the time
- The cartouche containing a coat of arms with three fleur-de-lys and a chevron is a rare feature
- The arabesque, floral and scroll marquetry is beatiful and fluid.
- Areas not decorated with marquetry such as the lower moulding on all sides and parts of the top retain traces of the original gilded decoration which would have given the impression of these less prominent areas also being inlaid with marquetry, this is exceptionally rare feature to survive.

The hinged lid above a triple panelled front decorated with marquetry inlaid with scrolling leaves, the central panel with an armorial crest and cartouche, standing on carved lion's paw feet. The interior with a compartment.
