Magnificent, 18th Century, Venetian, Trompe-L'œil, Painted, Bed, Superking 6ft, 180cm wide, With Massive 213cm, 6ft 10in Shaped Headboard & 149cm, 5ft Shaped Footboard & Fortuny Bedcover, sold with new custom made box-spring mattress base which accomodates a superking 6ft, 180cm wide mattress

- Exudes gravitas using height, form and trompe-l'œil to create striking visual impact and the illusion of three dimensional space

- The unusual height and shaping create an impressive backdrop for the Baroque, trompe-l'œil decoration.

- The bold scrollwork borders and cartouches are classic, Baroque architectural devices creating the impression of a carved surface. The floral sprays are beautifully painted in fine detail. - The cresting terminates with a coronet and small cartouche indicating that this bed was made for nobility.

- Bearing an inscription 'Buona Salute' which translates into 'Good Health'. - The Fortuny bedcover compliments the palette and the aesthetic - Supplied with a custom-made box spring base.

- The bed has been checked over and is sturdy and ready for use. - Provenance : Private Collection, Venice.
