Chair, Upholstered, Dining, Set, Eight, 19th Century, French, Oak, Provincial
11270
This characterful set of period chairs exude vernacular charm. The 19th century, linen upholstery gives them a fresh, classic appearance which works in period and contemporary interiors. They are sturdy and suitable for regular use. These chairs came from the same property as a set of six 'os-de-mouton' French side chairs which are upholstered in the same 19th century linen and braid and the backs are the same height (see image).
The rectangular backs with arched tops and joined to the seats with oak uprights. The square seats supported by fishtail carved font legs on paw feet and plain back legs joined by a shaped 'H' stretcher. Upholstered in 19th century white linen faced with a matching gimp. Excellent original mellow colour and patina.
