10183
The shaped backs are surmounted with carved, cresting rails. The removeable, needlework back panels are supported by the parcel gilt and walnut moulded frame. The stiles are carved with acanthus leaves and retain some of their original gildng. The seat rails are shaped and the chairs stand on ball and block turned legs on front braganza feet with boldly turned front stretchers and more modest side and rear stretchers. The needlework bears fine floral motifs, with two backs mirroring each other so that the chairs stand well in pairs. The needlework on the seats is faced with a gold braid.
Some losses, repairs and restorations commensurate with age and use. The needlework has recently been cleaned. Last quarter of the 17th century.
