- Attractive set of side chairs injecting period character into any interior - Sturdy and suitable for regular use - This model of chair was made in plentiful numbers in the mid-17th century but few survive from this period and they came back into fashion when large country houses were being remodeled in the Baroque taste towards the end of the 19th and beginning of the 20th century. - They were purchased along with an armchair which is illustrated below and can be sold separately
A set of four antiquarian oak side chairs in the Jacobean revival style. The backs and seats upholstered in leather faced with brass studwork. The seats supported by legs which have large block and ball turnings. The central stretcher with scroll carving and a central mask. The pair of side stretchers and the back stretcher straight. The leather is in good condition. Excellent color and patina.
