A large, mid-17th century, carved, oak, Flemish, four door cupboard, 'Beeldenkast'

In three parts. The detachable, ogee cornice has a border with acanthus leaf carving and inlaid ebony tablets. The top part has a deep frieze with a central, carved angel head and exotic birds either side leading into profuse vine carving with angel heads applied at each end. A narrow border of trailing acanthus leaves and applied ebony roundels is below. The centre and ends have classical columns headed by angels with applied ebony balusters and inlay. The doors are fitted with carved panels with acanthus leaf carving and applied ebony tables and roundels. The bottom part with a narrow border of trailing acanthus leaves and ebony tablets. The classical columns are repeated but headed with ionic capitals. The doors are fitted with two carved panels repeating the decoration above, divided by a narrow acanthus leaf border with applied ebony roundels. The bottom section with a central carved lion and drawers either side with acanthus leaf carving and ebony knobs, and carved lions at each end. A deep ogee moulding below and standing on ebonized bun feet. The sides are panelled. The interior is lined with blue paper throughout and there are two shelves in the bottom part. The working locks replaced Excellent original colour and patina.
