In two parts. The rectangular top has a solid moulded edge . The frieze has a dog tooth cornice and diagonal inlay with cabochon mouldings at each end. The front has four long drawers with highly, decorative, inlaid, geometric panels faced by applied mouldings, The drawers have replaced handles and elm linings.
The sides and centre are decorated with small inlaid geometric panels. Unusually, the panelled sides have architectural arches on the central panels, The bottom has a fretted apron, and the chest stands on stile feet,

The type of inlay used on this chest is often attributed to immigrant German craftsman working in the Southwark area of London in the late 16th and early 17th centuries
