A mid-17th century, Spanish, walnut and chestnut centre/writing table

The single plank chestnut top bears an iron staple on one side and is 32 ' wide. The walnut base has a frieze crisply carved on all sides with flowerheads and geometric motifs. The tapering legs with flowerhead motifs on the blocks and crisp gadrooning and fish tail carving. The 'H' stretcher plain with old worm damage and wear. The feet are not original but appear to be 18th century. Excellent original colour and patina.
