Decorated with a rim-to-rim floral scene with a male and a female peacock courting amongst a profusion of flowers and trailing stems. Decorated in blue on a pale blue glaze. Restoration to a glaze chip. Probably Dutch, first quarter of the 18th century.

It is extremely rare to find an early pair of Dutch delftware dishes. It is also rare to find pieces decorated with exotic birds such as peacocks. Appropriately, these dishes are decorated in a beautiful rich peacock-blue.
