RARE, LARGE COLLECTION OF GREEN, BLACK & CLEAR GLASS & FISHING FLOATS OR BUOYS WITH THE MAKERS MARKS FOR SMALL NETS c.1910
Displaying a variety of makers marks and symbols such as anchors, numbers etc.
Sizes vary - 3 x diameter 20cm 25 x diameter 12cm 2 x 7 diameter 7cm
• 8 small floats with an anchor, green glass 12cm diameter
• 3 small floats with a shamrock, green glass 12cm diameter, some silver paint that i can remove on one
• 1 small float with a 'C' at either end, green glass 12cm diameter
• 2 small floats with the hole exposed, blue glass 12cm diameter
• 2 larger floats, green glass one with shamrock, the other with an 'M' or a 'W', 20cm diameter
• 1 larger float, green glass unmarked, 20cm diameter
• 9 small floats unmarked, green glass 12cm diameter
• sold individually, small floats £150, larger £200 each
They are all handmade and the colour tones vary also
Exuding character and injecting atmosphere and conversation.
The idiosyncrasies within the glass make them interesting and more valuable to collectors.
Can be group in displays placed in the home or the garden
Used by fishermen during the first half of the 20th century as illustrated in Edward Wadworths's paintings during the 1920s & 1930s. Exceptional original condition
