I have never seen a desk like this before, it is really quirky, a great conversation piece. Tan leather top with gold leaf embossed tooling surrounded by crossbanding. The frieze with two long drawers in the shape of book ends on gilded 'HISTORY OF ENGLAND' above a dummy single long drawer in the shape of a book front. Each side with three long short drawers in the shape of book ends all gilded and marked vol 1-vi. The back with 2 simulated long drawers. This piece does not require a Cites certificate, it is not made from Swietenia humilis.
