The one piece top retaining its original iron handle, the iron strap hinges, hasp and working lock are a 17th/18th century replacements. The inside lid retains it original naïve painted decoration, of stylised trees and a leopard. The interior reveals a small compartment, the lid decorated with punchwork. The front has two galleons in carved in relief retaining their original polychrome decoration. Each side has one of the ships from the front carved in relief with original polychrome decoration. 1575-1625.
