The Angel Gabriel heads the central shield holding the banner 'Nolite Nocere', 'Be not afraid'.
The shield is quartered with the arms and the Annunciation 'Hail Mary, Full of Grace'. Christ, 'The Lamb of God' is depicted below. The elaborate strapwork and floral border has a crown and cipher in each corner. Red wool ground with heavy wool appliqué. Second half of the 17th century.

The arms are those of Don Ginés Miguel Fernando de Castro y Portugal, XI Conde de Lemos. According to Alfonso de Ceballos-Escalera Y Gila, Marques de la Floresta, La Insigne Orden del Toison de Oro, Madrid, 2000, pp. 387-388, Don Ginés Miguel Fernando de Castro y Portugal, XI Conde de Lemos was the son of don Pedro de Castro Portugal, X Conde de Lemos and of Ana de Borja y Centelles (daughter of the Duke of Gandia), he held many military positions, among which the titles of colonel of the regiment of the Nobleza de Lima (1670), deputy to the captain general of the navy and the armed forces, governor of Callao (1671), and first captain of the Reales Guardias de Corps. He was then appointed caballero, or knight for his military exploits and was sworn in by the King of Spain in 1694 in Madrid
