- This table is a rare and attractive octagonal form with characteristic Renaissance legs.

- It can serve as centre, dining or writing table.

- The sapwood creates a beautiful decorative effect and the table has a lovely mellow color and lustrous patina.

The octagonal top is in three sections each made from one wide plank of walnut over 40cm deep. The top is detachable, attached to the base with wooden pegs. The wooden batons on the underside of the top are replacements of the originals, probably due to worm damage and in the 19th century, which have been relocated to provide more strength see images of ghost marks of location of the original. The base with four column turned legs joined by four rectangular bottom stretchers and upper pine 'x' stretchers supporting the top. On squat bun feet, two replaced. Excellent original color and patina. First half of the 17th century.
