The detachable top with a central, 4 point starburst inside an large oval with pointed ends. Surrounded by a two band border. The edge with a wide, finely figured walnut border faced with a single band border. The top locates into a plain, frieze faced with an ogee moulded edge. The boldly turned barley twist legs are joined by a thick bell shaped central stretchers connected to a central roundel with is decorated with a 8 point starburst. On bun feet. Exceptional original colour and patina.

The patina on this table has matured into a lovely mellow colour. It incorporates many sophisticated and bold features such as the barley twist turnings and the bell shaped stretchers with central roundel which create great presence. These provide a platform for the elegant display of finely, figured walnut and inlaid decoration which were the height of fashion at the time.
