The rectangular top made from three boards, and shaped at each corner. The frieze fitted with a single drawer with knob. The sides shaped. Standing on splayed ring and mushroom turned legs joined by wide rectangular stretchers. On bun feet. Good colour and patina. Second half of the 17th century.
Height 79 cm., 2ft., 7 in., Length 115cm., 3ft., 9 in.,
Depth 92 cm., 3ft
The splayed legs really set this table off, and create a simple but very elegant, pronounced form. Subtle and unusual features such as the inset shaping of the corners, the tight ring turnings & urn-shaped cappings and open stretchers supporting the top add to this and give this centre table a simple, but highly atmospheric quality.
