Provenance

Hindelopen (Northern Dutch folk art) Hindelopen - Hylpen is one of the 11 Frisian cities, since 1984 part of the municipality of Nijefurd. It is in southwest Friesland, a little port on the IJsselmeer with less than 1.000 inhabitants. Several Hindeloopers were captains in the East-Indian trade and brought home goods that inspired special decoration styles for both wood and pottery, creating an art and industry still in existence.
