This picture eminates from the early 1970's when Blow's Minimalist experiment took the form of large square or almost square canvases painted a single colour. These were subdivided by metal attaments or bands of thin sheet metal, positioned at right angles to each other and the edge of the painting. They differ from Hard Edge abstract in the way Blow harmonised the colours and softened the straight lines. Blow showed a group of projection paintings at a solo show at the New Art Centre, London in 1973.
